THôT Technologies was founded by Jim Eckerman and Dr. Ian Freeman in 1991 and incorporated in February of 1992. THôT Technologies, Inc. is a California corporation and has its principal office in Campbell, California.
About Our Name
THôT Technologies was named after the Egyptian God of Measurement and this version of the name is pronounced "thought". Indeed, the proper pronunciation of "thought", according to Webster's Dictionary is "thôt". The company logo is the hieroglyph for THôT. This Egyptian God is often depicted as a man with the head of an Ibis and can be seen in the Egyptian Book of the Dead recording the passage of the deceased into the Egyptian version of heaven, the underworld. THôT is generally accepted in Egyptian mythology as the creator of the science of measuring and recording.
Company Charter and Goals
THôT Technologies develops, manufacturers and markets physics based test and measurement instruments. The majority of the equipment is based on laser Doppler vibrometers for measuring surface features or periodic vibrations. The various markets include the computer hard disk drive market, machine tools, semiconductor wafers, fiberoptic component materials, spindles and instruments to measure the dynamics of turbines, rotors and shafts.
The company goal is to develop, support and provide leading edge, technologically advanced test systems to the test, measurement, process control and manufacturing environments. The equipment is designed to provide ease of use and the capability of extending the users own technological frontiers. THôT Technologies relies heavily on system integration. Whenever possible, THôT will utilize commercially available technology. This policy allows us to access the latest technology and permits us to concentrate our resources on application and software development for the tools we manufacture.
